Keith W. Johnson, “Blind Uncle Keith” began singing at age 3 and playing guitar at age 14. His influences are diverse and eclectic. Artists such as, Neil Young, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Ray Willie Hubbard, influenced him early in his career. He was also influenced by bands such as The Eagles and Lynard Skynard, as well as old blues players including Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. His style is a combination of acoustic and electric rock, blues, and country. He has played in various church bands throughout North Louisiana and Texas. During the 80’s he toured the South with Christian Rock Bands such as Departure, Zion, and Cross. He began his solo career as “Keith W.” He has performed at venues such as the Red River Revel, Red Bud Festival and Gladewater Opry.
He started losing his eyesight in 2014, so he changed his stage name to ‘Blind Uncle Keith”. His current CD which was released when he was billed as Keith W, is entitled “Holding On To My Memories” and he is available to play a variety of venues such as festivals, private parties and restaurants etc. You can find samples of his CD, “Holding On To My Memories” at www.shrevearts.org.
