Festival is one of the longest continuing agriculture festivals in Louisiana, and has earned that distinction largely through involvement by community members and community volunteerism.
Entertainers over recent years have included Marcia Ball, Percy Sledge, Emma Thomas, Ricky Skaggs, and Shenandoah.
The largest grower in Lincoln Parish (the home of the festival) is Mitcham Farms. Mitcham Farms has been in business since 1946, has over 12,000 trees on approximately 100 acres. All the peaches are hand- picked and graded.
The 2011 festival involved approximately 100 volunteers from civic clubs, businesses and churches, plus over 80 businesses and organizations sponsored events.
On average, approximately 20,000 people attend the festival.
The economic impact of the festival is typically $2 million or more annually.
The peak season for fresh Ruston peaches is mid-June through mid-July.
